MECAL MAGNET SYSTEMS FOR PLATE STEEL HANDLING:

Mecal has supplied 10+ magnet systems to steel distribution centres, rail yard and steel cutting shops.

Typical features are:

The magnet beam arrangement to suit Dual Hoist Crane (supplied by others) is to lift and handle the complete range of steel plates as shown:

5 – 150 mm thick,

up to 3200 mm wide

up to 12000 mm long

Nominal maximum load: 10.0 Tonnes

With 4 hydraulic cylinder actuators, the positions of the 4 magnets under the beam can be set for a particular application so that the system can safely and efficiently handle single or multiple plates, or loose/bundled plates.

MECAL MAGNAGRIPS – The most powerful range of battery powered lifting magnets.

MAGNAGRIPS are the number one choice – for tool rooms, fabrication shops and steel warehouses. The magnets are designed to lift and handle:

  • steel plates from 3mm up to 200mm in thickness
  • remove shapes, flanges and skeletons from plasma cutting tables
  • dies and steel blocks in tool rooms.

“Flick a switch” easy and simple operation, no heavy levers needed to energise the magnet. Heavy duty – deep cycle battery ensures “work all day and recharge overnight” operation.

The rated lifting capacities are SWL values with a 2:1 safety factor.
They are applicable for flat, mild steel loads, 25mm or more in thickness with a machined surface finish.
Lifting capacities will reduce for thinner plates, loads with uneven, overhanging and/or curved surfaces.

TYPE ML LIFTING MAGNET

The RAPID M.L. Lifting Magnet Assembly has been specially designed for FORK LIFT TRUCKS to handle ferrous scrap or components i n:

• Small Foundries

• Scrap Merchant Yards

• Machine Shops

• Nail or Bolt Industries

To place the M.L. Lifter into operation, simply pick up the assembly on the forks of the truck – connect the cable coupling – start the generator, and in minutes the fork truck is converted to a versatile, scrap-handling vehicle.

OPERATIONAL DATA

MAGNET SHELL. Rugged casting in high permeability steel with integrally cast lifting and tagline lugs and terminal

box.

INNER AND OUTER POLES. Cast in high permeability steel and secured to shell by high tensile bolts.

BUMPING PLATE. Heavily ribbed abrasion and shock-resistant manganese steel.

ENERGISING COi L. Anodised wire or aluminium strip insulated to Class H, B.S. 2757 using epoxy-glass and asbestos or mica material.

CAVITY FlLUNG. High quality insulating compound – bitumen or polyester – to prevent entry of moisture.

TERMINALS. Brass stud type, secured against rotation and incorporating high temperature insulation. Terminal box cover of heavy steel wit h rubber waterproofing seal.

SUPPLY CABLE. Twin core tough flexible rubber terminating in weatherproof plug and socket interconnector.

SLING CHAINS. Three-legged type in fully heat treated high tensile steel to B.S. 1663. Connected to lifting lugs by shackles and bolts.

FRAMEWORK. Robust steel lifting frame designed to Crane and Hoist Code, with positive anchorage to the forks.

POWER SUPPLY. 220 volt Generator direct coupled to internal combust ion engine, mounted on anti-vibration footings. Optional petrol or diesel – crank or electric start. Mechanically governed for constant voltage.

CONTRACTOR CONTROLLER. Weather -proof control cubicle, housing relays and resistors for lift/drop operation by remote control push-button station, located within cabin.
