SPECIFICATION
FIXED PIPEWORK – HEAVY DUTY PIPELINE FOR MECAL VACUUM CLEANING SYSTEMS
(Please refer brochure VHB-01-001 and VHB-01-002 for indicative pictures of the components).
Fixed pipe work as indicated elsewhere in this offer, with “Suction Inlets” for attachment of the flexible hoses would be provided. Quantities of pipe, fittings, suction inlets etc., are also as indicated.
The design of the piping system is based on the principle: to provide the shortest and as straight as possible route to connect all suction points with minimum number of bends. The recommended minimum bend radius is 5 times nominal pipe diameter. All pipe work should give a smooth uninterrupted bore, for maximum efficiency.
All piping would be joined with Morris sleeve type couplings. The Morris Coupling slips over the pipe join and is clamped to the pipe by heavy bolts, to give a pressure tight seal, by virtue of the Neoprene gasket. An earth strip and internal stainless steel sleeve ensure full earthing of the pipe system and protection of the seal at actual pipe join. This type of coupling allows simple, quick installation or removal of the pipe work.
The straight pipe lengths are normally AS1074 Medium Weight galvanised pipe supplied in approximately 6.5m lengths for cutting to required length at site. Lighter or heavier types of pipes may be quoted according to the applications.
Pipe fittings such as branches, bends etc., are fabricated from black pipe and hot dip galvanised after fabrication. Painting to client’s specification may be quoted upon request. In some instances flexible rubber hose is used for bends.
Angle and U-bolts type pipe support are also provided to support the pipe at specified minimum spacing. A variety of pipe brackets is available for special applications. All brackets are painted black or galvanised depending on client specification.
Suction inlets have an automatic closing flap with rubber seal. Opening is formed to suit the quick-action coupling on the flexible hose. Size 50mm inlets have 50 BSP female thread. Size 80 mm and 100 mm inlets have flange to DIN –10 Table and supplied completed with bolts/nuts and gasket.
FLEXIBLE HOSES & TOOLS.
Suction hoses from heavy duty flexible, abrasive resistant and anti-static Kanaflex polymer give excellent flexibility, light weight and minimum operator fatigue, together with long life. Hoses are normally supplied in 5m suction lengths with the provision of additional 5m long extension hoses, give a large range of areas than can be covered. For hoses less than 80mm diameter, longer length of 10,12 or 15 metres can be supplied. For hoses less than 80mm diameter, push in type couplings system K are provided at both ends.
For 80mm diameter and larger, system SK couplings are supplied. The suction hose has a quick connect claw type female coupling at one end and plain opening at other end for attachment of the pick-up tool. The extension hose has quick connect fittings at both ends (male and female) to allow attachment to the suction inlet and the suction hose.
A large range of sizes and types of general purpose and special pick up tools is available. Special purpose tools can be also be furnished if required. The range of tools nominated as being supplied in our offer is in our opinion, the most suitable for your application.

MORRIS
COMPRESSION COUPLINGS AND SIGHT GLASSES
FOR PNEUMATIC CONVEYING
AND OTHER PIPING SYSTEMS
MORRIS COMPRESSION COUPLINGS
The ONLY Couplings which are economically available to connect (or repair) threaded or
unthreaded pipe or tubing o f any size from ½” through 36″ . This includes millimeter sizes and even a rare one-o f-a-kin d 0.D. tubing size. Available in a variety of materials.
EXCLUSIVE MORRIS DESIGN FEATURES
OUTER SHELL AND BAR WASHER The unique Morris design of these integrated parts. . . fully related to the inner liner and gasket . . attains the exclusive equalized pressure seal which makes Morris the preferred Coupling . Outer Shell 1s corrosion-resistant electrogalvanized cold rolled steel stainless steel, aluminium and other metals available. The rugged bar washer is electroplated steel. The compression principle assures an even positive seal eliminates need for lock washers.
NUTS AND BOLTS –
Coupling comes ready to slip with electroplated nuts and bolts in place ready to be tightened with a single socket wrench
INNER SLEEVE
The precision die-cut teeth are a significant factor in the Morris design-principle of applying equal pressure to the entire pipe circumference to attain complete seal plus extra rigidity. . . no sag in unsupported pipe or tubing. Standard sleeve is electrogalvanized cold rolled steel. but like outer shell is available in other metals to meet individual requirements
GASKET – Precision die-cut tooth design assures low or high pressure seal for both gaseous and liquid materials . Black neoprene is standard gasket, but rubber, white neoprene. asbestos and other gasket materials are available. Aluminium or stainless steel static conducting strips are available with any type gasket.
EQUALISED COMPRESSION PRINCIPLE –
As bolts are tightened the heavy bar washers draw in the outer sleeve applying equal pressure to the entire surface area of the inner sleeve and gasket. Under this equal compression the gasket teeth “flow” together to assure a leakproof seal. Will not damage or distort thin-wall pipe or tubing
FASTER Θ EASIER – ONE MAN Θ ONE WRENCH Θ ONE MINUTE
Morris Couplings reduce original installation costs because application is so fast and easy as illustrated lower right. You get additional savings because the original cost of Morris Couplings is substantially less than any others
For major repairs. merely cut out bad section of pipe or tubing. repair with new section and join with Morris Couplings.
Morris Couplings with static conducting (grounding) strips are enthusiastically and widely accepted for use in pneumatic conveying systems. The strips provide positive conduction of static across joints to the system ground. . .at
no extra cost and without special gaskets.
S.S. GASKET PROTECTORS
Stainless Steel Gasket Protectors are available for Morris Couplings . They cost pennies. . .save dollars by preventing gasket wear and line contamination. When gaps occur at tube joints, these Protectors prevent gasket wear caused by abrasive materials or by the action of a vacuum system
20 SECONDS
Clean scale, burrs, dirt or grease from joint areas and slide coupling over end of one pipe
40 SECONDS
Bring other pipe into butt position and slide coupling back to center over joint
ONE MINUTE
Tighten bolts evenly until ends of flanges butt. This automatically attains adequate bolt torque for a safe, sure, equal compression seal.

MORRIS QUICKON II COUPLERS®
Featuring NEW Positive Locking System.
OPEN/CLOSE WITHOUT TOOLS. . .IN SECONDS
FOR PNEUMATIC OR VACUUM CONVEYING SYSTEMS
Sizes 1½” O.D. thru 13″ O.D. In standard 4″ lengths
MORRIS QUICKON II:COUPLERS can be installed or removed with a twist of the wrist. No tools or special skills needed. The positive locking system turns easily to seal or to compensate for normal O.D. pipe or tubing tolerances.
This in-line Coupler is ideal for use where: Fast takedown and reassembly of lines is essential, reduced coupler weight Is desirable, a line or system is frequently modified, wrap around installation is necessary, and where pressure does not exceed 50 psi.
FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES
- Super fast installation and takedown by anyone no tools
- One piece construction no loose pieces
- No special pipe preparation required.
- Adjusting screw and thick gasket assure positive seal and even compression over entire joint will not damage thin wall tubing
- Stays closed in spite of expansion, contraction or vibration
- Convenient easily loosened and slipped along the pipe section and secured during takedown.
- Exceptionally lightweight a 4″ O.D. Quickon weight 1 lbs compared to 3¾ lbs. for a 4 ” O.D. standard Morris Coupling
MORRIS “In-Line” Sight Glasses give you a clear look at the material flowing through your conveying lines. Turbulence is eliminated by the “straight through” interior design. A permanently attached ground strip or events static electricity build-up by providing a positive contact across the sight glass. Ideal for fast and simple line installation with Morris couplings. Available in a variety of materials, most popular construction is clear acrylic center section with aluminium steel or stainless steel tube or pipe ends.
Side-Band Compression Couplings
Greatly Improved holding power plus a positive compression seal!
Unique design of Morris Side-Band compression couplings gives you vastly improved axial force holding power to connect or repair threaded or unthreaded pipe and tubing. Dual locking side bands grip the pipes and allow higher operating pressures than those normally suggested for standard Morris compression couplings. Especially effective where line vibration is a problem, and on plastic pipe.
You get all the positive sealing advantages of the Morris compression coupling in a coupling that can hold its own in fighting end pull.
Available for 1½” through 24″ nominal pipe or tubing sizes – including millimeter sizes. Static grounding strips or stainless steel gasket protectors also available.

Super Refined-Steel Coupling
the fastest Quick-coupling for aggressive and sensitive liquid substances. For welding to steel pipes
A Hand-movement suffices
to join the 2 Perrot refined-steel Quick couplings tightly together. Just another hand-flick and they are released. This can be done once, twice, thousands of times. The operation is always equally simple, equally fast and always provides a connection equally reliable, suction-fast, and pressure fast, as well as having an all-round flexibility. Tools are not required just a hand. Even an unskilled hand cannot go wrong.
Here’s why this coupling is so valuable: It’s fast, there are no problems: has proved itself a million times over and, by use of refined steel, immune to aggressive liquid substances.
The connection is instant
for filling and draining, for transferring for pumping and drawing-off an almost un countable number of liquids and paste-like substances and specially suitable for every sort of aggressive medium.
Draining, Filling and Transport Problems solved
in the chemical industry, in chemical preparation processes, in the plastics-prepara tion industry, in the foodstuffs industry, in the machinery industry for special purposes, especially in cases where aggressive media have to be transported.
